چکیده

POLYcYcLIac aromatic hydrocarbons are known to produce two distinct pathological changes in animals. Thus under certain conditions naphthalene produces cataract in rabbits, whilst under other conditions derivatives of 1:2-benzanthracene produce cancer in some species. It is possible that animals might deal with toxic hydrocarbons in either of two ways; the compounds might either be converted into more active pathogenic substances or be detoxicated by conversion into some harmless compound. Our present knowledge of the metabolism of aromatic hydrocarbons with the exception of benzene and naphthalene is very scanty. It has been known for some time that the urine of naphthalene-fed animals liberates naphthalene on boiling with acid [Baumann and Heuter, 1878]. Bourne and Young [1934] have isolated naphthalenemercapturic acid from the urine of naphthalene-fed rabbits. Bergel and Pschorr [1903] isolated phenanthrolglycuronic acid from the urine ofrabbits which had been given phenanthrene in their food, but they were unable to determine the constitution ofthis glycuronic acid compound. Computational Chemistry of Anthracene (PAH) Removal by SWNT Nano-filters: DFT

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (such as, anthracene, benzo[a]pyrene and so on) are non-polar, hydrophobic compounds, which are not ionized. They are only slightly soluble in water. They are very dangerous compounds in the environment. The single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) is used for removal and conversion of anthracene to low-risk products. In this study, electron transfer between anthrac...

بررسی میزان تجزیه بیولوژیک آنتراسن (Antheracen) توسط باکتری های جداسازی شده از مصب رودخانه تجن

Background and purpose: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHS) are environmental pollutants that are caused by human activity and considered as carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds. Anthracene is a hazardous substance causing serious health problems. There are many bacteria with the ability to remove this pollutant. The aim of of this study was isolation of some bacteria from Tajan river e...

Competitive binding and metabolism of several carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by AKR mouse embryo cells in culture.

The binding of labeled carcinogens [3H]benzo(a)pyrene [3H]dibenz(a,/i)anthracene, and [3H]dibenz(a,c)anthracene to nuclear chromatin was examined in AKR mouse embryo cells grown in culture. The influence of unlabeled weakly and strongly carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocar bons (PAH) and the metabolic inhibitor 7,8-benzoflavone on the binding of labeled PAH to nuclear chromatin was examine...

Malignant transformation of cells derived from mouse prostate by epoxides and other derivatives of polycyclic hydrocarbons.

K-region epoxides of benz[a] anthracene, dibenz[a,h] anthracene, and 3-methylcholanthrene have been found to be toxic and more active in producing malignant transformation of cells derived from mouse prostate than their respective parent hydrocarbons and K-region dihydrodiols and phenols. The data support the view that metabolism of these polycyclic hydrocarbons is a prerequisite for their biol...
